EXA Congratulates Thales France for Airbus selecting the PureFlyt FMS
The EXA Consulting Group (EXA) congratulates Thales AVS France SAS (Thales) for equipping Airbus with the Thales PurFlyt Flight Management System (FMS) on the Airbus A320, A330, and A350. Airbus plans to enter the Thales PurFlyt FMS into service in 2026.
An FMS is a highly advanced computerized system that provides navigational guidance along a flight path. Even with an autopilot, aircrew must manually input heading, select air traffic control radio frequencies, adjust to weather conditions, navigate from waypoint to waypoint, and more. The PurFlyt FMS establishes a complete flight plan before the aircraft takes off, and it dynamically updates the aircraft’s parameters during the flight, significantly reducing the burden and fatigue of the flightdeck crew. The PurFlyt FMS computes a complete trajectory from take-off to the final approach, and it reacts ten times faster than any other FMS to in-flight events, such as weather conditions and course deviations.
EXA supported Thales’s bid with a proposal team that worked over a period of nine months. “We are delighted Thales was selected by Airbus,” Alex McPhail, CEO of EXA explained. “The PurFlyt FMS represents the pinnacle of aviation technology—it is only fitting that Airbus, a world leader in aircraft manufacturing, selected the PurFlyt FMS.”
